Formable
This project is based on three main ideas.
One is the idea of accessibility. I want the artwork to be more intertwined in our everyday lives so it can inspire more people. It could have more value if the work is tied to important
objects or things in our lives. The second idea is sustainability because much of the art world is wasteful, so can the work dissolve? Can it be long living? The last idea is sharing, in the sense of cultural exchange. I want to utilize my experiences in Switzerland and turn them into visual representations that become artwork that can live in the united states as a
representation of cultural exchange. How I will make these items depends on my experience. Ultimately I would like to have many forms of expression that will live as a family in the united states as impactful items in society.
The project below is more emblematic of objects in the home. The design itself and the pattern were inspired by my trip to Iceland, more specifically the blue lagoon which has a uniquely beautiful shape that proved to be perfect for the project.
Sustainable Studio
Below you will see some of the soaps that we have been experimenting with making. Mainly because we want to have a culture that is formable and sustainable. Its meant to be an example of cultural exchange that is accessible, and doesn’t harm the environment. Similar to the paper pulp painting as well. It is made 100% from junk mail.
